Capital MetroRail passes can be purchased online, at all participating retail outlets, the Transit Store at 323 Congress, and from the ticket vending machines located at MetroRail stations.
Tickets for one-way fare can be purchased from the ticket vending machines at MetroRail stations; however, Capital Metro Regional 7-Day passes can not be purchased from the ticket vending machine at this time. They are available from participating retail outlets. Capital MetroRail FaresCapital MetroRail is divided into two fare zones. The zone boundary is between Kramer and Howard Station. If your trip crosses the zone boundary you pay an All Zones fare. MetroRail Single Ride Tickets Two-Hour Tickets can only be purchased at the stations from ticket vending machines (TVMs). The tickets are good for the train and rail connector buses only (464, 465, 466). Capital MetroRail Passes Passengers planning to connect to local routes are encouraged to purchase a Capital Metro Regional Pass, which is valid on all rail and bus services. Capital Metro encourages riders to purchase their passes in advance from the Capital Metro Transit Store, other retail outlets, such as H-E-B, or online. Passes purchased in advance must be validated at a rail station validator on the rail platform before boarding the train. Passes can also be purchased from the TVMs at the station. TVM-issued passes are already validated upon purchase. * Reduced fares are available to those issued a Capital Metro Reduced Fare ID: seniors 65 and over, Medicare card holders and people with disabilities. MetroAccess riders may ride at the reduced price with their MetroAccess ID, and students 6-18 and active and reserve military personnel ride a the reduced price with a valid school or military ID.
The following passengers ride free on Capital MetroRail: University of Texas and Austin Community College students, faculty and staff ride at no charge through separate paid agreements between Capital Metro and those educational institutions. City of Austin employees also ride at no charge through a similar agreement. Law enforcement, fire and military personnel in uniform, and children under six (when accompanied by an adult) also ride at no charge. Fare inspectors will randomly check riders for their fare. Individuals who do not have the proper fare will be subject to citations, fines and/or removal from the train at the next station. |
