Proposed Fare Changes

Capital Metro is proposing a fare increase. A new fare structure is needed to achieve a financially sustainable future for Capital Metro. Capital Metro has never raised its fares. If approved, the new fares would become effective Fall 2008.

  • Local bus fare to $0.75 (other cash fares and daily passes adjusted proportionally)
  • Local Day Pass $1.50
  • Express to $1.50
  • MetroRail Adult (1 Zone $1.00, 2 Zones $1.50)
  • All Services Day Pass $3.00
  • Stored Value Card - $15.00 value to $12.00 (formerly half-priced farecard)
  • Adult 31-day pass to $18.00 for local service; $36.00 for an All Services pass
  • Adult 7-Day Local Metro Pass $7.00
  • `Dillo fare to $0.50 (2 hour pass) & $5.00 for a 31-day pass
  • RideShare monthly pass to $45.00
  • STS-certified individuals, children under six, and law enforcement, fire and military personnel in uniform ride free on Local, `Dillos, Express, and MetroRail
  • STS 10-ride Ticket Book to $7.00
  • STS monthly pass $22.50
  • Reduced fare (`Dillos $.25, FRS $.35, Express & Rail $.75)
    • Disability Fare Card holders
    • Seniors (over 65) and Medicare Card Holders
    • Students 18 years and under with student ID
    • Active duty and reserve military personnel with ID
  • In fall 2010, local bus fare increases to $1.00 with proportional increases to other fares

The current proposal builds upon significant community feedback we received after proposing a fare increase in 2007. Capital Metro Fare Increase Proposal Timeline

Changing the fare structure is not a quick process. Capital Metro has been engaged in significant community outreach regarding the proposed fares, in addition to conducting community meetings and a public hearing. Here’s where we are in the process.
