Capital Metro – Frequently Asked Questions for New Riders
We want to make your journey on Capital Metro as efficient and pleasant as possible. If you’re new to Capital Metro you probably have lots of questions, so to make your information gathering easier we've assembled a few of the essential answers to the questions we are most frequently asked.
How much does it cost to ride the bus?An adult fare to ride is 50 cents on most buses, but the fare can change depending on the service and passenger type. A pass good for 24 hours of travel on all Local Services is only $1. A complete list of fares can be found here.
Is it free if I'm a student? What about seniors?All University of Texas students, faculty and staff ride free on all routes with a current, valid school ID. All other students may present a valid school ID and ride for half price.
I need to get from Point A to Point B. What route do I take?You can find directions by using our online Trip Planner or Google Transit. Or you can call our GO Line, 474-1200, and one of our customer service representatives will help you find the fastest way to get where you need to go. You can also get route information via text message, through our partnership with Dadnab. Learn how it works.
Where can I find a printed schedule?Schedule books cost $1 are available to most HEB stores, the Capital Metro Transit Store at 323 Congress Avenue, or you can order one online and have it mailed to you. Free pocket schedules are also available at these locations and on most buses. You can also view and download schedules for individual routes, or the complete schedule book, from the Destinations area of our website.
Can I bring my bike on the bus?All full-sized Capital Metro buses feature easy-to-use bike racks on the front. Here’s how to load your bike.
How do I pay when I board the bus? Where do I insert my pass?The fare box on the bus is easy to use, with slots for bills, coins, and passes. Tell the driver if you need a day pass before you insert your money. Unfortunately the fare boxes require exact change. Is there a bus that goes to the Airport?The Route 100 Airport Flyer starts at the University of Texas campus, proceeds through Austin's Central Business District and follows a direct route to Austin-Bergstrom Airport. Route 350 links the Airport to North Austin with transfers to most parts of the city.

Do you provide services for people with disabilities or special needs?We try our best to make transportation easier for people with disabilities or special needs. All of our buses and vehicles are equipped with lifts for wheelchairs and all of our facilities were designed with accessibility in mind.
