BREWSTER MCCRACKEN, BOARD MEMBER

BMC discovered his passion for city planning in his first term on the Austin City Council, which began in 2003. He spearheaded an ordinance to protect the character of single-family neighborhoods, crafted commercial design standards to encourage denser, more pedestrian-friendly development along Austin's major roads. As a CapMetro Board Member, McCracken works to merge smart land use with innovative transportation solutions. In other words, he believes that integrating the question of where the buildings go with the question of where the buses, trains, pedestrians, and cars go will help them all go faster. And, result in a cleaner, more vibrant, nicer-looking city to boot.

Previously, he spent 11 years practicing law, most recently with DBCS. He and his wife Mindy Montford McCracken have one son, Ford.
