Capital Metro Service Information for Jan. 20 & 21 Downtown Events

AUSTIN, Texas (Jan. 19, 2017) - Due to several events being planned downtown Friday and Saturday, Jan. 20 and 21, Capital Metro is recommending people coming into the area use public transit. The agency encourages use of its online  Trip Planner or the  CapMetro App to plan trips. The app also can be used to purchase tickets.

MetroRapid services the downtown area, as well as numerous Local routes. Fares are $1.25 one-way or $2.50 for a Day Pass. MetroRapid  Route 801 travels from Tech Ridge to Southpark Meadows, while  Route 803 travels from The Domain to Westgate Mall.

Capital Metro also has several Park & Ride locations where people can park their cars for free and take transit into the downtown area. Suggested Park & Ride locations are Tech Ridge, North Lamar Transit Center, the Triangle and South Congress Transit Center.

Capital Metro is also anticipating several bus route detours and delays due to the planned activities.

Current activities planned for the downtown area Jan. 20-21 include:

UT Walkout - Possible delays on Friday, Jan. 20, affecting the UT area to the State Capitol from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Austin Inauguration Pride March LGBTQ & Allies - Possible delays on Friday, Jan. 20, affecting the State Capitol area from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.  

One Resistance March -  Detours on Friday, Jan. 20, affecting Auditorium Shores to Congress Avenue from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The following routes will be on detour: 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 10, 20, 30, 37, 801, 803, 982 and 983.

Austin Women's March -  Detours on Saturday, Jan. 21, near the Capitol area from 12 p.m. to approximately 4 p.m. The following routes will be on detour: 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 10, 19, 20, 30, 37, 801 NB and 803 NB.
