Capital Metro to Expand Service for Earth Day ATX
AUSTIN, Texas (April 21, 2017) - Capital Metro will provide extended service for Earth Day ATX on Saturday, April 22. MetroBus Route 4 will run at increased frequencies, and MetroRail will begin operating at 10 a.m.
Held on the Huston-Tillotson University campus this year, Earth Day ATX will include a Transportation Pavilion that will provide tips for commuters on using alternative transportation modes. Exhibitors will encourage attendees to add walking, biking, transit, ride sharing and vanpooling to their daily work trips.
Route 4 will operate at increased frequencies throughout the day, and MetroRail's first southbound departure will be at 10:00 a.m. from Kramer Station. MetroRail riders should take the train to Plaza Saltillo Station and then walk to the campus via 6th Street. Electric Cab of Austin also will provide free trips from Plaza Saltillo to the festival. In addition, Capital Metro Routes 2, 21, 22 and 320 will take riders to the Earth Day event.
