Capital Metro to Increase MetroRapid Frequency and Weekend Service Hours

Enhanced service will begin August 20

AUSTIN, Texas (April 24, 2017) The Capital Metro board of directors today approved the proposed service changes for August 2017. By a unanimous vote, the board of directors adopted changes to Capital Metro's service that will take effect August 20.

The change that will have the most impact for riders, increasing the frequency of MetroRapid Routes 801 and 803, comes as the next phase of implementation of the  Connections 2025 Transit Plan. Frequency will be increased on weekdays and weekends, and late-night service will be added on weekends.

MetroRapid Routes 801 and 803 will add frequency between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. on weekdays so that the service will run every 10 minutes. On weekends, both routes will run every 15 minutes from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Late-night service will operate at 20-minute frequencies until 3 a.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. On Sunday nights, both routes will operate at 20-minute frequencies until midnight.

Additional changes to Capital Metro service include:
