Capital Metro Information for Juneteenth Parade and Celebration

Capital Metro bus routes to be detoured during parade

AUSTIN, Texas - On Saturday, June 17, the Central Texas Juneteenth Committee will host its annual Juneteenth Celebration and parade at 10 a.m.  The parade will travel along Martin Luther King Blvd., Chicon St., Rosewood Ave., Chestnut Ave. and finish at Rosewood Park. A Capital Metro bus and agency employees will take part in the parade.

Riders should take note that Capital Metro bus routes will be detoured around the parade route, due to street closures that begin at 5 a.m.

Capital Metro offers various routes with service within blocks of the Juneteenth celebration, including:

  • 2 Rosewood
  • 6 East 12th
  • 18 MLK/Enfield
  • 21 Exposition
  • 22 Chicon
  • 320 St. Johns

Capital Metro strongly urges the community to stay off the train tracks next to Rosewood Park and to cross only at dedicated crossings. MetroRail begins service on Saturday, June 17 at 4 p.m., but parade goers should always expect a train, as freight trains may be in service.

Juneteenth event goers can plan their trip to the parade by downloading the CapMetro App and using the Trip Planner. Riders can also plan their trip by calling the GO Line at 512-474-1200.
