Catch an Easy Ride to UT Football Games with Capital Metro

Transit service to DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium offers alternative to gameday traffic

AUSTIN, TEXAS - As the first University of Texas home football game approaches, Capital Metro reminds riders that transit can provide students and other fans alternatives to gameday traffic congestion and high prices for parking, as well as removing any need to worry about driving home after a fun day at the tailgate. MetroRapid routes operate adjacent to the UT campus along Guadalupe, and increased frequencies mean they run every 15 minutes on Saturdays.

MetroRapid Routes 801 and 803, along with Local Routes 1 Metric/South Congress, 3 Burnet/Manchaca, 7 Duval/Dove Springs and 10 South 1st/Red River offer service close to the UT campus.

The following routes will be detoured around the university campus due to street closures during the season's home games: 

  • 7 Duval/Dove Springs
  • 10 South 1st/Red River
  • 18 Martin Luther King/Enfield
  • 20 Manor/Riverside
  • 37 Colony Park/Windsor Park
  • 100 MetroAirport
  • 412 E-bus/Main Campus

A bus pass costs $1.25 one way/$2.50 round trip and can be purchased on board or with the CapMetro App. UT students, faculty and staff ride for free with a valid school ID. Students 18 and younger with a school ID ride at a reduced rate, and children five and younger accompanied by an adult ride for free.

While not applicable to this week's opening game due to the early kickoff, Capital Metro also offers MetroRail service on Saturdays from 4 p.m. until midnight, with easy connections from MLK Station to the stadium area via Route 18 MLK/Enfield. A one-way trip on MetroRail costs $3.50, and a Day Pass $7.
