ACL Crowds to Benefit from Enhanced Cap Metro Service

MetroRail service to increase for both festival weekends

AUSTIN, Texas - Capital Metro will increase MetroRail service in October for both weekends of the Austin City Limits Music Festival and run Saturday-level service on Sundays, too. Festival goers can choose from a variety of services including Local buses, two MetroRapid routes and MetroRail, all of which offer convenient and low-cost ways to travel.

Catch the ACL Shuttle at Republic Square Park

To reach the shuttle site, ACL attendees have several easy options, including riding MetroRapid, which picks up at dozens of stations along North Lamar/South Congress (Route 801) and drops passengers off directly at Republic Square Station. MetroRapid runs until 2:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights, as well as on Sundays during the festival.

Several other Capital Metro bus lines - including Routes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 17, 19, 20, 21, 22 and 37 - drop passengers off within a block of the shuttle site.

Another option for attendees is to take MetroRail into downtown Austin, and then walk a few blocks west to Republic Square. MetroRail service will begin at 10:30 a.m. during ACL and operate until 2:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday, and until 12:30 a.m. on Sunday. The Downtown Station is located at 4th and Trinity.

As a reminder, vehicles should not use the transit priority lanes or bus stops to drop off or pickup passengers, as drivers could be ticketed by the Austin Police Department.

Travel directly to Zilker Park

For those looking to catch a ride straight to Zilker Park, MetroRapid 803 is the best option. Riders can pick up MetroRapid at any one of 46 stations between The Domain and Westgate and take it to the Barton Springs Station, located directly on Lamar, near Zilker Park.

Event goers can also catch a ride on Capital Metro's Local routes including 3, 30 and 338 to the event.

Since parking is not provided at the Zilker Park event site, taking transit is the fastest and most convenient way to get there.

Additional Parking at Howard and Lakeline Stations Park & Rides

This year, Capital Metro has increased parking at both Howard and Lakeline Stations Park & Rides. An additional 85 parking spaces were recently added to the Howard Station Park & Ride, increasing capacity to 301, and 460 parking spaces were added to Lakeline Station Park & Ride, increasing capacity to 936.

Late-Night Service

For festival goers staying out well past the last band leaves the stage, Capital Metro offers a few late-night options. MetroRapid routes run until 2:30 a.m. Thursday through Sunday, and the Night Owl and E-Bus services run between downtown and neighborhoods throughout the city until about 3 a.m. Night Owl and E-Bus services do not operate on Sunday nights, so riders should plan accordingly.

Riders can catch the Night Owl at the downtown bus stop on 6th and Congress. The E-Bus downtown bus stop is now located at 6th and Colorado for Routes 410 West Campus, 411 Riverside and 412 Main Campus.

Service Detours

Due to the festival, regular bus service will be detoured along Route 30 for the duration of the event.

Attendees are encouraged to use the CapMetro App and trip planner to get step-by-step directions for taking Capital Metro to ACL. For more information about the festival, visit Capital Metro's ACL Festival Service webpage at capmetro.org/specialevents.
