Approved Bikeshare Fare Adjustments 2025
We are adjusting our CapMetro Bikeshare fares. This include adjustments to Bikeshare fare types, reductions in the base allotted time per ride for passes and a revised structure for overage fees to encourage users to take shorter trips and dock more frequently.
These adjustments provide CapMetro an opportunity to meet the needs of customers and efficiently use our resources, ensuring the longevity of the program while still offering some of the lowest bikeshare fares in the country.
These adjustments start on Friday, August 1.

(Minutes) refers to the included time per ride before assessing Overage Fees
Student Discount
The student fare will be modified to become a discount for all students aged 18 and over, not exclusive to the University of Texas at Austin. The new discount will apply to individuals currently enrolled in a school program, including trade schools, nursing schools and high school.
Ride Duration and Overage Fees
The allotted time per ride provided in the base fare will change. Currently, the 1 day, 31-day, annual and student passes all include 60 minutes of ride time as part of the base fare before any overage fees are assessed. The new fare structure reduces the included time to 30 minutes.
Additionally, the fee charged to users who exceed the allotted time per ride (“overage fee”) will increase. Currently, the fare structure charges customers $4.33 for every 30 minutes they exceed the base allotted time per ride. The new fare structure changes the fee to $0.25 for every minute after the initial 30-minute base allotted time, resulting in a more individualized charge to each user.
