Working late? Or out for a night on the town?
Whether you live here or are just visiting, Capital Metro offers safe and inexpensive options for traveling at night. Consider taking one of our special late-night services, the Night Owl and E-Bus, to get to and from your destination safely.
The Night Owl service operates year-round from midnight until 3 a.m., Monday through Saturday nights. Buses run between popular late-night destinations on 6th Street and local neighborhoods every 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the route. A Single Ride on the Night Owl bus costs $1.25.
The 3 E-Bus (Entertainment Bus) routes operate each fall and spring, when more UT students are on campus. When classes are in session, E-Buses operate from 10:00 p.m. until 3 a.m. Thursday through Saturday nights. Members of the general public - not just UT students and faculty - can ride E-Buses between popular student housing neighborhoods and downtown. A Single Ride on the E-Bus costs $1.25.
E-Bus service runs only during the University of Texas school year and does not run in the summer or during school breaks.
You can also ride MetroRail, MetroRapid or the local MetroBus to get to and from your destination. These regular services end earlier than the Night Owl or E-Bus.
- MetroRail operates between downtown and Leander until after midnight on Friday and Saturday nights (last departure from downtown is at about 12:15 a.m.). A Single Ride on MetroRail costs $3.50.
- MetroRapid service runs until 12:30 a.m. Monday through Wednesday nights and until 2:30 a.m. Thursday-Saturday, with service at least every 20 minutes after 7 p.m. On Sundays, MetroRapid operates at 30-minute frequencies until 11:30 p.m. A Single Ride on MetroRapid costs $1.25. Route 801 runs between Tech Ridge and Southpark Meadows, and Route 803 runs between The Domain and Westgate.
- MetroBus operates throughout the city. Service ends between 10 p.m. and midnight, depending on the route. A Single Ride on MetroBus is $1.25.

Capital Metro is concerned about public safety. Plan ahead. If you are out on the town after Capital Metro services end, enlist a designated driver, call for a taxi or take a pedicab. Don't drink and drive.
