Getting Started on Rail

Route 550, also known as the Red Line, has 10 stations from Downtown to Leander, with stations in popular areas including Highland (ACC) and McKalla (Q2 stadium).

Connect to the Rail: Use our Park & Ride locations and look for Route 550 to be connected to a rail station. Or hop on a connector bus, Route 465 goes to the UT campus and Route 466 from Kramer station goes to The Domain or UT's Pickle Research Campus.

How to Ride Rail

All of our trains provide accessibility for riders with disabilities. If you use a wheelchair or other mobility device and need assistance, our operators can help. Visit the Code of Conduct to learn rules for riding. 

Get on Board

All our Rail stations are fully wheelchair accessible with ramps designed to get you from the street and securely on the train. Arrive 5 minutes early and use designated crossings. Check departure times in the Transit app or at digital displays at the station. Stand behind the line until the train arrives and board at any door.

Ride Securely

All seats are open for boarding. Find a spot in our priority seating area near the doors, designed for riders over 65, those in wheelchairs and people using other mobility devices. Operators are trained to assist passengers with wheelchairs and ensure they are secured safely on the train.

Pay Your Fare

Present your pass or Umo app for validation to the conductor as they approach you on the train.

Exit Safely

Listen for your station or check the sign onboard for the next station. Remain seated until the train comes to a complete stop. Exit through any door.

Use the Umo app to purchase fare for faster, more convenient boarding. The conductor will come by and visually validate your fare. Commuter Single Ride or paper day pass are available for purchase from Ticket Vending Machines (TVM) at any CapMetro Rail station. You can use cash or credit/debit cards at TVMs.

Call our Lost & Found line at 512-389-7454, email us at lostandfound@capmetro.org or visit the Transit Store. We'll do our best to help. All items turned in on board are collected at our Lost & Found at the Transit Store (1705 Guadalupe St.).

Ride Rail to McKalla Station at Q2 Stadium. Use the online Trip Planner or the Transit app to plan your route. We operate special event Rail service to McKalla Station with supplemental trains on standby to support crowds for events. Check back for the 2026 game schedule!
