10% of us are veterans like you!
CapMetro is proud that our family is filled with so many military veterans. That doesn’t happen by accident.
We know that your time in the military called on your dedication, your skills and your willingness to work hard for your community. And that’s exactly what would make you such a great part of the CapMetro team. It’s part of why the whole Austin area can rely on CapMetro and the services our veteran employees provide.
The We Hire Vets program recognizes Texas employers for their commitment to hiring veterans. CapMetro is recognized by the Texas Veterans Commission as having at least 10 percent of its workforce comprised of veterans, and has been working diligently with the TVC to continue to grow that number.
How Our Veterans Feel About Working at CapMetro
“We come to work everyday and know this job is so much bigger than ourselves.” — Ryan

“When I was in active duty, I was able to do a lot to serve the people. My transition from the military to civilian lifestyle went flawlessly.
Working for CapMetro is really good for a military person. You have a lot of regiment and a lot of order. You also have a lot of really good people you can serve with as well. If you love serving the people, come work here.”
Mac
“When transitioning from military to civilian life, some individuals may not think of web development or visual design as potential career paths. However, for me, it felt like a natural fit. The skills I gained in graphic design during my time in the military allowed for a seamless transition into this field.
CapMetro was a comfortable transition back to serving, now as a civilian. Hard work, discipline, accountability, and pride remain important in both the army and at CapMetro.”
Olivia
“I highly recommend CapMetro for veterans. Public transportation could use your commitment, discipline and most of all your leadership. The leadership skills I learned and the training I received in the Army prepared me for management opportunities.
CapMetro is an excellent place to grow, learn and challenge yourself. I earned my degree here using the tuition reimbursement program. Their wellness program has helped me continue the fitness habits I learned in the military.
CapMetro has supported me even when I've exercised other opportunities. This place is home for me, it was very natural to transition from the military.”
Rafael
"I started my career at CapMetro in 1985 as a bus operator. My years in the Army provided me with the discipline and leadership skills that were noticed by leadership, and so, I worked as a dispatcher, road supervisor, radio controller, labor coordinator. I then moved to Demand Response as a Superintendent, promoted to Assistant Director and after several more promotions, I now serve as the Senior Director of Bus Transportation.
With the military, I was providing a service for our country and with my job at CapMetro I am also providing a service. It is rewarding to serve the people in our community and get paid for it."
Ryan
"CapMetro is ever-growing and forward thinking. We've got a lot of good things coming for our veterans. You can't find a good company to work with that promotes growth as well as CapMetro does. In the military, you’re looking for that next rank and that next big thing in your career and you want a company that does that.
What I did [in the Corps] directly corresponds to what we do here at CapMetro, dealing with that high level of maintenance and maintaining a certain standard."
