CapMetro to Resume Limited Operations at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 21st
AUSTIN, Texas – CapMetro is expected to resume limited operations starting at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 21, with the first trips for customers expected closer to 11 a.m. for Bus, Pickup and Access services. CapMetro Rail will not operate.
The agency expects impacts to roadways throughout the day and encourages customers to stay home if able. Service will be suspended early at 9 p.m. on January 21, and customers are urged to take their last trips by that time.
Customers can begin booking trips with most CapMetro Pickup zones starting at 10 a.m., though the agency encourages essential trips only. Manor Pickup, which is operated by CARTS, will not operate.
CapMetro Rail and Rail Connector Routes 465 and 466 will not operate on January 21 to allow staff to monitor and treat any infrastructure affected by the inclement weather. The Transit Store will also remain closed on Tuesday.
Additionally, UT Shuttles, Flyer, Express, and Night Owls will not operate and all Round Rock services have been suspended on January 21.
CapMetro Bikeshare service will end Monday, January 20 at 10 p.m. Bikes cannot be checked out and can only be returned. Bikeshare service will resume on Tuesday at 10 a.m.
The agency will conduct only medically essential trips for CapMetro Access customers on January 21. CapMetro staff are contacting all Access customers with appointments on Tuesday to notify them about possible delays and to reschedule non-medically essential trips.
CapMetro operates with the safety of our customers and frontline staff being a top priority. By delaying operations for most service until 10 a.m., this allows agency staff to assess roadway conditions.
As the inclement weather progresses, the agency is continuing to coordinate with the Austin/Travis County Emergency Operations Center to help transport our community to and from warming centers and shelters. Anyone who is seeking transportation to a shelter who does not have the means to pay the fare will still be given a ride.
We ask the public to remain patient if they experience any service delays during this inclement weather and to stay up to date by signing up for CapMetro alerts.
