Say Goodbye to Pickup!
A year ago, Capital Metro brought ride hailing to public transportation with our new Pickup app. It's been a great success, allowing customers to arrange on-demand transit service from their home to a doctor's appointment, a trip to Capital Plaza, to and from MLK Station or anywhere else within its service zone. This pilot program will end on June 2, however. Until then, it's still available 6 days a week - between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays - in the Mueller and Windsor Park Neighborhoods. It takes riders north of 183 to Wal-Mart and Luby's and serves kids going to Reagan High School and the St. John Library Branch. Better yet, it's free!
What Pickup by Cap Metro is an on-demand service that can take you to anywhere within its service zone. You can request a ride directly from your phone.
Where? Pickup serves an area of Northeast Austin stretching from the intersection of Manor Rd. and Airport Blvd. to the I-35 access road north of Rutherford. It includes the Mueller Development, Capital Plaza, Coronado Hills and Cameron Road near Dobie Middle School. See the map for exact boundaries. The service can now also bring MetroRail riders between its service zone and MLK MetroRail Station!
When? This pilot program is available 6 days a week: weekdays between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. It is scheduled to run until June 2.
How? Download the app from your phone's app store, register for an account and you'll be ready to go. Book a ride and we can be there within 15 minutes. Those without access to the smartphone app may call 512-369-6200.
But how much? Nothing at all! For the limited duration of the pilot, we're offering this service free of charge. In return, we just ask you to provide feedback (via the app) so we can guage how effective the pilot program has been.
