CapMetro Launches All-Door Boarding Pilot on Limited Routes
AUSTIN, Texas – Starting Tuesday, September 30, CapMetro is launching all-door boarding for customers on MetroBus Route 20 Manor Road/Riverside and MetroBus Route 300 Springdale/Oltorf. This feature is available between 7 a.m and 7 p.m. Pass holders on all other services still must use the front door.
To use this feature on Route 20 and 300, customers must buy a digital pass on the CapMetro App, activate the pass before entering the vehicle and scan the QR code using the on-board validator at either door.
The agency’s MetroRapid service has had all-door boarding since launching in 2014. To make this happen, on-board validators were installed at all rear doors on the MetroRapid fleet. CapMetro staff is currently in the process of installing on-board validators on all CapMetro buses at the front and rear doors. This will enable flexibility to eventually provide all-door boarding on all buses. To date, the team has installed onboard validators on nearly 60% of vehicles.
Two days before the launch of all-door boarding, CapMetro volunteers will be at the following bus stops to assist customers with the new technology: Riverside and Crossing Place, South Pleasant Valley, Republic Square, 7th and Pleasant Valley and Westgate.
Please remember to
wear a face covering on all CapMetro vehicles and call the Customer Service GO Line at 512-474-1200 with any questions.
