CapMetro to Temporarily Close MetroRail Track for Track Work

AUSTIN, TX (July 6, 2021) – CapMetro will temporarily close the MetroRail Red Line service from Saturday, July 10 to Sunday, July 18 to perform required maintenance. The work will improve safety, reliability and infrastructure on the MetroRail service. During this time, MetroRail services will be unavailable for customers, except for special service July 13th to and from Q2 Stadium.

CapMetro will operate special event service on MetroRail for customers attending the Austin FC match on Tuesday, July 13th. Fans are reminded to visit CapMetro's Austin FC  page for a full list of transit options to Q2 Stadium, including increased bus service.

Customers can also visit CapMetro.org/MetroRail for more information on the temporary rail shutdown, including a comprehensive list of bus alternatives to ensure community members can get to where they need to go. Customers can call the Customer Service GO Line at 512-474-1200 with questions or for real-time information. Customers are also encouraged to download the CapMetro App, sign up for MetroAlerts or use the Trip Planner.

During this week-long shutdown, CapMetro will improve drainage, weld for joint elimination, complete surfacing and replace hard-to-reach steel ties, among other things. The construction will also affect traffic on Lamar Boulevard during the weekend of July 10-11, and Howard Lane the weekend of July 16-18.

MetroRail service will return on Monday, July 19 with its normal service.
