Introducing CapMetro BikeShare
Coming Summer 2024

MetroBike is getting a new look, new equipment and a new name starting in July. We are excited to bring improved public transportation options to our bike-riding community.

With CapMetro Bikeshare, you can look forward to the following:

  • New fleet of 100% electric assist bikes
  • All new docking stations, with a select few new locations
  • Automatic motor with all-pedal assist
  • More stable ride with a durable bike frame and inline battery placement
  • Convenient pass-purchasing in the new Bikeshare App

Q: What are e-assist bikes?

E-assist bikes still require the rider to pedal, but an electric motor automatically activates to assist the rider. 

Q: Will my exsiting annual MetroBike membership transfer to Bikeshare?  

Yes, you will get an email from us in July on how to transfer your account to the new system.

MetroBike Service Updates

In order to transition to the new docking stations and bikes, we are closing MetroBike service on July 1. 

  • We paused 31-Day and Annual pass purchases on June 1.
  • CapMetro will do a rolling launch of the new stations and bikes starting in mid-July and ending in the fall. 
  • We are retiring our current equipment and you may experience some issues with either bikes or stations. We are doing our best to resolve any issues, but will not be investing in the outgoing equipment. We apologize for any inconvenience you may experience with our existing equipment before the system upgrade in July.
